Dr. Brian McCluskey

Senior Scientific Advisor

Brian McCluskey is currently an epidemiologist, research scientist and affiliate faculty member in the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences at Colorado State University.  As a senior scientific advisor at EpiX Analytics, Brian focuses on infectious disease epidemiology, animal health surveillance, and on the translation of modeling and risk analytics to policy making and risk management.

Brian is a former Associate Deputy Administrator in USDA’s Veterinary Services, and held earlier positions including Area Epidemiology Officer, Dairy Commodity specialist, Director of the National Surveillance Unit, Western Region Director, Chief Epidemiologist and Associate Deputy Administrator, retiring in 2019 after 29 years of service. Following his retirement from USDA, Brian was the Director of Business Development for Trace First Inc., a software company specializing in animal health information systems and laboratory information management systems for veterinary diagnostic labs. He received a Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University, a Masters in infectious diseases from the University of Florida and a PhD in Epidemiology from Colorado State University. 

Brian is a Diplomate in the American College of Veterinary Preventive Medicine and has published frequently on infectious disease epidemiology and animal health surveillance.
