Régis develops statistical methods to build risk assessment models and epidemiological studies tailored to stakeholder needs to make decisions in an uncertain world. He is an internationally recognized expert in quantitative estimation of uncertainty in risk assessment models.
He has over 25 years of experience in governmental administrations and research institutes. He led numerous quantitative risk assessments for microbial (QMRA) and chemical contaminants in food, as well as various epidemiological studies, on three continents. He notably developed the first QMRA published by the French Food Safety Agency, the first QMRA and the first Total Diet Study achieved in a sub-Saharan country.
He published more than 120 scientific articles in international peer-reviewed journals and his work is highly cited (Google scholar h-index: 48). His works in microbial risk characterization is notably used for risk management by the US Food and Drug Administration, the European Food Safety Agency, and the Food and Agriculture Organization/World Health Organization.
Régis masters R for data manipulation, frequentist and Bayesian statistical analyses, data mining and AI, agent-based models, Shiny apps developments, package development (author of mc2d, co-creator of fitdistrplus), PBPK modelling, etc.
He received the Outstanding Practitioner Award of the Society for Risk Analysis in 2016 and numerous FDA recognition awards. He is a Member of the Roster of Experts for the Joint FAO/WHO Expert Meetings on Microbiological Risk Assessments (JEMRA), the former President of the SRA Microbial Risk Analysis Specialty Group, and a member of the International Committee on Predictive Modelling in Foods.
He holds a DVM, a Master of Public Health and a PhD in biostatistics from the University of Paris.
