Dr. Solenne Costard
As part of her consulting and research work, Solenne applies risk analysis modeling and other analytical techniques to a broad range of projects in a variety of industries worldwide. Her experience includes qualitative and quantitative risk assessments, food safety modeling, multi-criteria decision analysis, expert opinion elicitation, and modeling of disease introduction and spread in populations. Solenne has also led and worked on engagements that involved risk-based financial valuations and portfolio management, and pharmaceutical strategic forecasting and analysis, and various statistical analysis methods. She has expertise in epidemiology, animal and public health, food safety, and business analytics. She is one of the instructors of public and private courses given by EpiX in quantitative risk analysis in general, and epidemiology and food safety in particular.
Prior to joining the company in 2012, she worked in the Veterinary Epidemiology and Public Health Group at the Royal Veterinary College (RVC) in London, UK, during which she held a joint appointment with the Market Opportunity Dept. of the International Livestock Research Institute (ILRI) in Nairobi, Kenya. There, Solenne participated in multiple collaborative projects in Africa and South-East Asia. She acquired practical field experience, including on African Swine Fever (ASF) and HPAI mitigation measures, pig competitiveness, food safety, and prevention of zoonoses. She has been conducting research on the epidemiology of ASF, and developing risk assessment and transmission models to inform ASF risk reduction strategies in different contexts.
Solenne holds a DVM from the National Veterinary School of Toulouse, France, and a Master of Science and PhD from the University of London, UK.
