Professor Tianyang Wang, also known as Tian, is an internationally recognized expert in financial modeling, risk assessment, and optimization. He has extensive experience in asset pricing, derivatives, behavioral finance, FinTech, sustainability, and commodities. As a senior scientific advisor at EpiX Analytics, he supports the use of advanced modeling techniques for improved decision-making in business and finance.
Tian’s work has been widely published on leading academic journals and has been supported by the Center for Petroleum Asset Risk Management at the University of Texas at Austin, the Enterprise Research Program at Colorado State University, the Society of Actuaries (SOA) and the Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS), and Tian is honored to participate in research supported by the Department of Energy, the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and Intel, and grants from the Natural Science Foundation (NSF) of China. Tian is the recipient of numerous best paper awards and honors including the Academic Research Colloquium Best Paper Award by CFP Board Center for Financial Planning and Dean’s Scholars.
Tian is an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance and Real Estate at Colorado State University. Tian earned his Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin. He is also a Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), a Financial Risk Manager (FRM) — Certified by the Global Association of Risk Professionals, and an Associate of the Society of Actuaries. Tian has been an invited speaker at international and regional conferences, serves on several research and program committees, and enjoys teaching students of all levels, including undergraduates, graduates, online MBA, and EMBA students.
